Tell the PA Senate NO on E-Verify!

Action Deadline: Ongoing

On June 17, 2019, the PA House passed HB1170, a bill that would mandate the use of E-verify in the construction industry. Although E-Verify is a accurate program, due to errors in the government databases it relies on, the system sometimes incorrectly identifies U.S. Citizen and work-authorized immigrants as lacking work authorization. If signed into law, HB1170 is likely to result in 1,300 construction workers losing their jobs. Mandating the use of E-Verify also places yet another burden on small business owners, who must shoulder the additional cost and time required to operate E-Verify.

HB1170 is now in the PA Senate, and we are asking everyone to contact their PA Senator asking them to oppose HB1170. Find your State Senators at https://www.legis.state.pa.us.
