PICC Educational Webinar Series
PICC is committed to supporting the leadership development of immigrant and refugee community members and building the capacity of our member organizations and allies to advance immigrant rights by providing regular trainings and developing community education materials.
PICC Educational Webinar Series in 2020 and Beyond
Beginning in 2017, PICC began hosting the #StoptheHate Educational Webinars to provide allies and advocates regular information about changing immigration policies and tools to engage in local, state, and federal level advocacy efforts. Based on feedback from participants and trainers, we are rebranding these educational webinars and updating their format to better serve our mission of advancing pro-immigrant policies.
Starting in March 2020, the newly named PICC Educational Webinar Series will offer bi-monthly webinars on current policies and advocacy campaigns. We will also offer occasional webinars in response to rapid changes in policy, such as the recent webinar on the Public Charge Rule.
As we work to rebrand our community education resources, we invite you to submit your suggestions and feedback to help PICC better tailor our Educational Webinars.
Overview of the PICC Educational Webinar Series
- Legislative Overview: PICC staff members summarize the key provisions in bills under consideration in Harrisburg and/or Washington that would impact – either positively or negatively – immigrant and refugee communities. Allies leave the conference call with a clear idea of how these proposed bills would impact immigrant and refugee communities and with talking points and well-defined action steps they can take to advocate for or against these bills. Our #StoptheHate – 2019-2020 Anti-Immigrant Legislation page provides a comprehensive summary of all anti-immigrant bills introduced in Pennsylvania.
- Immigration Presentation: PICC staff member or other invited expert on the subject will give a short presentation on a relevant topic in immigration. These presentations are meant to help advocates and allies better understand our current immigration system and issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities as to be more effective advocates for pro-immigrant legislation.
