As part of the worldwide commemoration of World Refugee Day, local organizations will host a panel discussion on current refugee policy, including the drastic decline of refugee admission to the United States from a height of 132,173 in 1992 to only 28,400 in 2003.

More than 100,000 refugees have made Pennsylvania “a place to call home” since the mid-1970’s, adding to the cultural mosaic in our city and state and contributing to economic growth through job creation, enlarging the tax base, investing in homes, and creating new businesses. Panel representatives will discuss the many contributions of refugees and the growing challenges that they face in their search for “A Place to Call Home.”
