This morning, a handful of state legislators in Harrisburg will announce an anti-immigrant bill modeled on Arizona's new law.

Senator Arlen Specter has come out publicly in support of comprehensive immigration reform.

This report, by Fiscal Policy institute looks at the 25 largest major metropolitan areas - and finds that immigrants make significant contributions.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement now has access to Philly police data, and immigrant communities are increasingly fearful of interaction with law enforcement.  Regan is quoted in this City Paper article, as is Bill Johnson of the Police Advisory Commission.

ICE responds to numerous complaints about the immigration detention system with changes, including closing the Hutto family detention center in Texas.  Regan is quoted, along with Judi Bernstein-Baker of member organization HIAS and Council Migration Service.

As part of a nationwide week of action, interfaith leaders in our region will join together at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to call upon Congress to reject an enforcement-only approach to immigration reform and enact comprehensive legislation that provides a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
